Greatest Music Question

Who’s the female vocalist who had a #1 song for nine weeks in 1945, followed that up with 55 more Top 40 hits – the last one made the Top 10 in 1958 – and is also known for her movie and TV work? The answer follows today's Heart & Soul.

A man in Newfoundland calls his son in Calgary two days before Christmas and says, “I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are getting a divorce. Forty-five years of misery is enough.”

The son says, “Pop, what are you talking about?”

“We can’t even stand the sight of each other anymore,” says the father. “We’re sick of each other, we’re sick of looking at each other, and I’m sick of talking about it. Call your sister in Vancouver and tell her about it.”

Now frantic, the son calls his sister who just goes nuts:

“No way they’re getting divorced! she shouts. “I’ll take care of this.”

She calls her parents’ house in Newfoundland immediately and screams at her father, “You are NOT getting divorced! Don’t do a single thing until I get there! I’m calling my brother back and we’ll both be there tomorrow! Until then, don’t do a thing! Do you hear me?” And she hangs up.

The old man hangs up the phone and turns to his wife and says, “Okay, they are coming for Christmas … and they’re paying their own way!”

Life Is Beauty
By Mother Teresa

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.

Life is beauty, admire it.

Life is bliss, taste it.

Life is a dream, realize it.

Life is a challenge, meet it.

Life is a duty, complete it.

Life is a game, play it.

Life is a promise, fulfill it.

Life is sorrow, overcome it.

Life is a song, sing it.

Life is a struggle, accept it.

Life is a tragedy, confront it.

Life is an adventure, dare it.

Life is luck, make it.

Life is … life, fight for it.
